Have you ever seen a construction site in Hong Kong, China? We recently took a trip to Hong Kong and were amazed to see hundreds of construction workers, climbing, hanging from, and installing bamboo scaffolding.
Asian countries have been using bamboo in construction for centuries, praised for its strength and versatility, as well as weighing less than traditional steel that we use here in the States. Averaging roughly 16 deaths per year, this practice is also highly dangerous as the material is susceptible to erosion due to the elements.
Our trip provided an interesting look at why OSHA safety standards and training is so important nowadays.
